Dr Leonie Aitken

Dr Leonie Aitken

We are pleased to welcome Dr Leonie Aitken, who is joining the Ocean Medical Bondi team on 20 September 2023!

Leonie has been in general practice in the Eastern Suburbs since 1990. She has a broad experience across all areas of general practice, and enjoys using an holistic approach to your health, including diet and exercise advice, and exploring the interactions of your physical, emotional, and mental states.

After graduating in Medicine from Queensland University and doing four years’ training at Royal Brisbane Hospital, Leonie worked in London for five years, and did the Membership Examination of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She has also completed the Diploma of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology College, however she does not currently do antenatal shared care.

Leonie underwent extensive training in counselling and psychotherapy, and has considerable experience in working with relationship dynamics and how they affect us as a whole. She is a co-author of the chapter “Holistic Group Psychotherapy” in the book “Groupwork in Australia” (2015).

Leonie enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and helping with your overall health and wellbeing lifelong. A special delight is caring for and playing with her small grandchildren, who continue to remind her of the importance of “being in the moment” in life.

Dr Pauline Yuan

Dr Pauline Yuan

Pauline graduated from the University of Sydney in 2013. Prior to becoming a general practitioner, she worked in Emergency Departments in both urban and rural NSW. Pauline has extensive hospital and clinical experience, with exposure to a wide patient demographic, from paediatric medicine to aged care and chronic disease management.

While she enjoys the diverse presentations of general practice, her special interests are in skin, sexual health and women's health. Specifically in the sexual health field, she has completed the Family Planning Alliance Australia certificate in reproductive and sexual health and is trained to insert Implanon.

During her spare time, Pauline enjoys being outside, bush walking, volleyball, and stand up paddle boarding. Additionally, she finds joy in cooking, reading, and Salami and Olive her beautiful cats.


 


Dr Stephanie Arasu

Dr Stephanie Arasu

Dr Arasu is an Irish-Australian trained doctor who has a broad medical experience base having worked in both Dublin and Australia for over ten years, and feels passionately that General Practice and primary care are the cornerstone of holistic medical and psychosocial patient care.

She graduated with honours from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2008 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Prior to General Practice, Dr Arasu spent many years working in Intensive Care across hospitals in the northern beaches and at The John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. She has experience and training in paediatrics, having spent some time in general paediatrics and in paediatric critical care, whilst also holding a Diploma in Child Health.

She has a special interest in Palliative Care and has recently pursued a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She believes Palliative Medicine promotes dignity and prevents and reduces physical and emotional suffering as patients enter their last phase of life. She focuses on understanding what is important to her patients and achieving their best quality of life.

Having largely trained and worked in General Practice in the country, she has accumulated significant experience in looking after older patients, those with chronic health issues, as well as patients in Aboriginal communities. She enjoyed rural work because of its challenges, opportunities and need for holistic medical approach to care, all of which Dr Arasu extends into any environment she works in.

Dr Arasu is able to perform minor skin surgery, biopsies, as well as insertion and removal of Implanon Rods. She also has an interest in weight management, preventative health and adopts a kind approach, taking time to care for all her patients.

She is fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and looks forward to supporting you in your health journey. Last but not least, she enjoys cooking, music and a good story!



 


Dr Maria Opacic

MD, FRACGP

Dr Maria Opacic

After completing the AMC exams for international graduates, Dr. Maria Opacic continued her medical training and worked at the Royal North Shore Hospital before undertaking postgraduate training in general practice. She was awarded a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1996.

Dr. Opacic has been a practicing GP in the Eastern Suburbs since 1993 and at Ocean Medical since 1998, establishing herself as one of the most trusted and respected GPs in the area. She has been a GP advisor for Women’s Health and Pregnancy GP Shared Care at the Royal Hospital for Women over a period of ten years and she is a registered provider of Antenatal Shared care at RHW.

Dr Opacic has an interest in all aspects of general practice, including pregnancy, newborn care, weight management, counselling, men’s health as well as complex chronic disease management with an emphasis on a wholistic approach to health care. She is known for her exceptionally caring attitude , warm personality and a high focus on developing personalized and trusting long term relationships with her patients.

In her free time, Dr. Opacic enjoys spending time with family and friends, likes reading and is interested in philosophy and social science.



 


Dr Linda Lombard

MBChB, FRACGP

Dr Linda Lombard

Dr Linda Lombard has extensive experience as a General Practitioner for over 20 years in Australia and has worked as a Doctor for over 25 years including South Africa and the UK. She has a warm compassionate manner and is known for spending time with her patients and being interested in all aspects of their health and well-being. A Fellow of Royal Australian College of GP, Linda also completed further training in Antenatal Care with the Royal Hospital for Women. She has Diplomas in Family Planning, Tropical Medicine and Public Health. Dr Lombard has worked in sexual health clinics, family planning clinics and travel clinics both in Australia and the UK. She maintains regular updates on all aspects of General Practice as well as good relationships with local specialists.

Dr Lombard has 2 children of her own and has travelled extensively, so she brings her own personal experience as well as medical training to her role as a Family GP.



 

Dr Han Thai

Dr Han Thai

Han has been practicing medicine for over 10 years. He completed his fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2009 and is actively involved with the College as an examiner of GP registrars.

He has a special interest in preventative medicine, men's health, sexual health, and musculoskeletal medicine.

Han is a dual specialist in Occupational and Environmental medicine. He completed his fellowship with the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) and has conducted research in the field of workplace stress. Han currently trains and supervise Occupational medicine registrars for AFOEM.


 


Dr Thao Nguyen

B.Sci, MBBS (Hons. UNSW), FRACGP, Dip. obs.

Dr Thao Nguyen

Thao graduated from medicine with honours at UNSW. She has worked in various hospitals in Sydney and rural NSW. She has additional experience in women's and children's health. Thao underwent additional training at the Sydney Children's Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women where she completed her diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is experienced in performing implanon insertion and removals, and is an antenatal shared care doctor with RPAH and Royal Hospital for women.

Thao values the role of GP's in being able to promote health and prevent disease, to keep people and communities healthy and happy. She enjoys meeting people from all ages and backgrounds, and the privilege of hearing their story.

Thao continues to participate in the education and training of junior doctors. She is a lecturer at the University of Notre Dame and is also an examiner of upcoming GPs with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Constanza

Constanza is a Registered Psychologist who believes therapy should be a safe space for individuals to explore their inner selves and their difficulties.

Constanza has worked extensively with clients struggling with anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, and depression since 2015 in different sectors, including NDIS, workers’ compensation (SIRA), and private practice.

Her warm and empathetic approach to therapy provides a secure therapeutic space, combined with evidence-based change strategies. This helps her clients feel understood and, at the same time, empowered to achieve and maintain change.

Constanza understands that each individual is unique and requires a personalized approach to their psychological journey. Her dedication and passion for her clients make her a committed professional in aiding individuals to reach their goals and enhance their lives.

Having practised in both Chile and Australia, Constanza has a strong appreciation for cultural diversity and has a deep understanding of cultural struggles and difficulties.

Constanza offers psychotherapy services in English and Spanish for clients aged 16 and above. She is experienced in the following treatment approaches:

Our Bondi Beach physiotherapist, Campbell Hooker offers tailored physio services specialising in Sports Medicine, Headaches, Neck and Back Pain, Aged Care and Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Recovery. He has worked in the elite sporting environments with Rugby Union & Rugby league Clubs, Triathletes, Olympians and Surf Lifesavers. Campbell is the current Shute Shield physiotherapist for Eastern Suburbs Rugby Club.

Campbell focuses on treating the cause, as well as preventing recurrences using an up to date evidence based medicine approach.

Campbell works closely with your GP, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Exercise Physiologist to ensure that your treatment goals are achieved. Campbell works at Ocean Medical Practice with our Bondi Road Doctors Team on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
