Antenatal shared care is a healthcare model where your pregnancy is cared for by your GP (general practitioner) and Hospital obstetrician or midwife. GPs that provide antenatal shared care have undertaken additional training in women’s health and obstetrics. Our GPs work in collaboration with midwives and obstetricians at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown.
For your convenience, you will be able to see your GP for most routine prenatal check-ups and non-complicated pregnancy care, while also receiving specialist care from the hospital for more complex medical issues related to the pregnancy. Our Bondi GPs will work together with the hospital team to ensure you receive the best possible care throughout your pregnancy.
Antenatal shared care may be a suitable option for you as it can reduce excessive waiting times at the hospital or specialist rooms.
At Ocean Medical Practice, certain GPs provide antenatal shared care. In addition to reduced waiting times, antenatal shared care improves continuity of care, so you are not seeing a different midwife or doctor at each hospital visit. It is also a convenient means of accessing advice and assessment should any issues arise outside of routine scheduled antenatal appointments.
Our Doctors on Bondi Rd also provide post-natal care. Whilst motherhood is life changing and busy, it is also important for new mothers to ensure they return to optimum health for themselves and their new family, especially as physical and emotional problems can arise during this time.
We are currently accepting new patients from all of Eastern Sydney including: Bondi Beach, North Bondi, Bondi Junction, Tamarama, Waverly, Clovelly, Dover Heights, Bellevue Hill and Surrounding areas. Our experienced doctors look forward to meeting you. Please contact our friendly reception team on
